While After Everything seemingly concludes the series, fans have been treated to an extra cinematic experience with Tessa and Hardin, although the status of planned prequels and sequels remains uncertain.
The US release of After Everything took place during a special two-night-only event on September 13 and 14, with subsequent availability on Netflix in the US, following a tradition set by its predecessors. The UK audience had to wait until October 3 for the movie to arrive on Prime Video.
With a runtime of 95 minutes, or one hour and 35 minutes, After Everything stands as the shortest film in the series to date.
The first teaser, unveiled in December 2022, focused on Hardin, hinting at his struggles post-breakup with Tessa. The subsequent full trailer, released on May 1, delves into Hardin's journey to Lisbon, where he appears destined to encounter Tessa once more.
As After Ever Happy concluded on a somber note, with Tessa and Hardin parting ways due to the revelation of Hardin's book, After Everything picks up from this open ending. The film is expected to navigate the complexities of their relationship, potentially leading to a reunion and ultimately mirroring the book's conclusion where they find lasting happiness.
Director Castille Landon had initially planned two more After movies, one based on the prequel Before and another centered on Tessa and Hardin's children. However, the unexpected announcement of After Everything has left the fate of these projects uncertain.
Returning for After Everything are Josephine Langford and Hero Fiennes Tiffin as Tessa Young and Hardin Scott. Despite rumors of a reduced role for Tessa, the cast includes familiar faces such as Louise Lombard, Stephen Moyer, Mimi Keene, Benjamin Mascolo, and Aya Ivanova, along with Chance Perdomo and Kiana Madeira reprising their roles.
After Everything premiered in the US on September 13 and is set to release in the UK on October 3 on Prime Video.
